Ideal Companies: My Ideal company was working for an Insurance company for 14 years which was Johnson and Johnson Inc. This company was a managing general agency and now has been one out of the five certified managing general agencies in the country. I started out as records clerk using terminal digit color-coded filing system to manage the files and access them to match the mail to the files for the underwriters and processors to have access to them in the process of it being an insurance policy to be delivered to the insured. Later, as our technology improved with scanned all of our records onto a system know as ImageRight that had a process of taking the mail recieved in records/mail departement and scanning into workflows so underwriters, assistant underwriters, processors, accountants, managers, supervisors could have access to files to complete the process of becoming an deliverable insurance policy with the correct stamping for state with the correct signatures. I recieved these files in the records department throught 3 printers that printed the documents and I had to go through each page to separate, staple, stamp and place into evelopes for the mailroom to process to be delivered to the insured, agent, company, mortgagee. We had over 400 agents that we managed so our mail was getting to where it had to managed in more organized fashion. I have gone back to school to study to become a medical coder and have one more year to finish my course of study and then take my externship of required 180 hours without pay unless I can get into Roper Hospital to start my move up to the records department. I had an informal interview with a High School buddy of mine last week downtown Charleston, Sc at the hospital and talk with her about my course of study and goals. She said they were not hiring Students due to the level of professionalism from the Youngsters are not up to par for what they needed in a hospital setting. I just want the chance to prove myself and show my skills and also learn the new technologies of the companies that are out there needed scanners to transmit and manage their documents to run their company.
