Professional Experience:Present: Director, Amalia Tankers Inc. and other related companies (Piraeus, Greece) – operation of chemical tankers.A ship management company specializing in the transport of sophisticated parcel chemicals on the basis of international joint ventures with end-users. I serve as the General Manager and am involved in all aspects of management including relations with banks, charterers, major oil companies, crewing, operations, technical and marine insurance. I have operating experience for many years in the Northern Europe-Mediterranean chemical parcel market, carrying cargoes for major accounts including Dow, ICI, Shell, Exxon-Mobil, BP and Total. I have been involved in project development of joint-venture structures, financed with term loans, mezzanine finance and private equity. I have organized large repair projects with numerous sub-contractors.1980-1986: Vice President, Bank of America (Piraeus, Greece) B of A had one of the largest global shipping loan portfolios. I was a lending officer responsible for the development and management of relationships with 14 major shipping companies. My direct loan book represented 20-25% of the Bank’s shipping loan portfolio. I was responsible for the insurance matters of the entire loan portfolio. I also have considerable experience in problem credits and workout situations.1976-1980: Assistant Insurance and Financial Manager, Olympic Maritime SA (Monte Carlo) – Onassis Group A major Greek shipping group predominantly active in large tanker trades. I was involved in risk management of the fleet with an insured value in the order of US$ 500 million placed in six independent markets as well as the liability coverage in three major Pandi Clubs. I also handled marine and Pandi claims and supervised the charter party arbitrations. I was involved in new-building finance, commercial bank finance for second-hand vessels, aircraft leasing, currency hedging, money management, financial forecasting and projections, budgeting and internal auditing. 1974-1976: Management Assistant, Thenamaris Maritime Inc. (Piraeus, Greece) – Martinos GroupI started out in chartering department, which was responsible for the commercial management of a fleet of thirty dry cargo vessels both owned and time-chartered. I participated in the loan negotiations and assisted in charter-party disputes. I assumed the management accounting responsibilities, monitoring voyage results and cash management.
