ROB MCGRATH – is an experienced marketing and sales professional and Villa Hotel property developer. Rob is the founder of the world’s first Destination Club, Private Retreats, and is widely credited with founding the Destination Club industry. Rob founded Private Retreats in 1998 based on extensive research in real estate ownership and vacation trends. In 2003, Rob was named the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for his work in creating this entirely new resort industry. During his tenure as CEO of Tanner and Haley Resorts, Rob developed numerous “Villa Hotels” including projects in Nevis, Belize and the Bahamas. He has also partnered in developments in Kenya and Croatia. Prior to Private Retreats, Rob helped found the Fractional Real Estate industry and developed or co-developed luxury resort properties in Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona. Rob spent five years on Wall Street as a commercial mortgage-backed securities trader at J.P.Morgan and Nomura Securities, where he financed over $1 billion of real estate. Rob is an Honors graduate of Dartmouth College where he was Captain of the 1982 NCAA Ski Team. Rob received his MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck Business School as one of only 10 “Tuck Scholars”. Rob spent six years racing on the World Pro Ski tour in the 1980’s, earning “Rookie of the Year” and “1986 Grand Marnier Skier of the Year” awards. Rob was the leader of the 1978 team that broke the “Guinness Book of World Records” Marathon Leapfrogging Record, by going 555 miles.
