Highlights:

I was born on Wednesday, November 25, 1959 in Folkston, Georgia. I attended White Oak Elementary School, Folkston Middle School and graduated from Charlton County High School in Folkston, Georgia in 1979. I started college in September, 1978 at Georgia Southern College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice in August, 1981. I graduated from Georgia Southern University in August, 1997 with a Masters Degree in Public Administration. I have completed degree requirements for a law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law, 2003. I first worked in family owned businesses beginning when I was 14. The first one was Susan’s Factory Outlet, followed by Susan’s Electronics. After graduating from high school, I worked as a dispatcher for the Folkston Police Department. I worked there from June, 1978 through January, 1979. While in college, I worked as a nurse’s aide for Willingway Hospital in Statesboro Georgia from March of 1979 through August, 1979. I began working as a dispatcher for the Camden County Sheriff’s Office in Woodbine in September of 1979 and continued to work as a dispatcher and deputy sheriff until August, 1982. While a deputy, I serveved arrest warrants, investigated traffic crashes and crimes. In September, 1982 I began working for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent. After completing training, I was first assigned to the Americus, Georgia Field Office from December 1982 though March 1985. While in Americus, I investigated crimes against property and persons, along with drug smuggling cases. I then transferred to the Savannah Regional Drug Enforcement Office. I worked drug investigations while there. I left in 1987 to go to the Douglas Filed Office, where I investigated crimes against persons, including several murders and sex crimes. In 1992, I was one of the first agents assigned to the experimental Kingsland Field Office, which combined the duties of a field and drug office. I worked drug cases, including the largest seizure of cocaine in Georgia (to that point) and several murders, rapes and robberies. I left the GBI in July, 1997 to return to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. I worked as the General Administrator of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office until June 2001. I trained law enforcement officers since 1985 at regional ans state level police academies. In June 2001, I established a consulting business to provide computer network design and support. I also consult on grant writing, organizational development, training and human resource matters for government agencies, non profits and for profits. In August 2001, I began teaching undergraduate students at Georgia Southern University criminal justice and political science. This work is seasonal and I teach between one and three classes per academic year. In October 2003, I began working as a network administrator for the District Attorney’s Office in Brunswick Georgia. Since that time, I have also been assigned duties as an investigator. I have been active in church since I was 12. I was asked to conduct services at the White Oak United Methodist Church, which included choosing songs, Bible passages and giving sermons. While a member of St Marks Episcopal Church, I served as a lay Eucharistic Minster and on the Mission Council. While at the St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church I was a lay Eucharistic Minister and Lector. I also served on the Parish Council. I’m a former member of the Woodbine Lions Club, and currently serve as a board member for the Burnt Fort Historical Association and St Francis Xavier School Advisory Board. I am a past board member of the Coastal Area Rape Crisis Center and Drugs Don’t Work Camden-Glynn, Inc. I am currently serving as president of the East Georgia Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration and am a board member foe the SouthEastern Conference on Public Administration. I was a founding member of an Explorer Post with the Charlton County Sheriff’s Office in 1976. I remained active in Exploring until I went away to college. In 1982, I was the motivating force behind establishing an Explorer Post with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. That Post is still in existence. In 2001, I was the moving force in reestablishing Cub Scout Pack 253 at St Francis Xavier School. I am currently the Cubmaster and am serving as Membership Chairman for the Coastal District of the Okefenokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
