I was the Human Resource Manager at Sears for 9 of the 11 years I worked there. When I retired from Sears, a friend suggested I start a Human Resource Consulting Company. He thought there was a need there, and jokingly said I could give information and assistance over my cell while I was playing golf. It has been an up hill battle, but there has been some neat things happen the past couple of months. I have one full time consulting job, but a couple of months ago I took on a five physician partnership. The primary partner felt she was micromanaging, and she did not want to continue in that position. There are numerous issues there. I interviewed everyone and came to a conclusion which I presented to the Doctors. I believe one or two of the physicians were surprised by my recommendations, and the doctor who originally brought me aboard wanted me to continue for three to six months.
I think it is still up in the air as these doctors are so busy, they truly do not know what is going on. I find that true in most physicians' offices.
This is the kind of job I really enjoy and would like to find more consults like this. I am looking for positions that need an HR with experience, and requires problem solving of personnel issues. I feel there is a need in this area. I am not interested in handling payroll, etc. although I could do so. I truly desire to work with one-on-one issues regarding the way employees treat each other. I am also interested in reviewing, interviewing, and handling employee issues when it comes to "bulling".
