Studied the capabilities of all steel mills on the North American continent and leveraged each mill "sweet spot" of production to make the company a desirable customer. Negotiated long term, mutually beneficial price and volume agreements. IMPACT: Allowed steel mills to produce at capacity established value added services for a full range of products. Implemented a Cost-Effective Strategy to Reduce Excess Inventory. Launched an internal surplus removal program, which used surplus inventory at key locations to replenish the normal requirements of other internal locations. Coordinated the surplus management process. Worked with both sales and purchasing departments to eliminate obsolete, de-listed and slow moving inventory items. IMPACT: Achieved a Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI) +- $120 million. Optimized Materials Usage: Enhanced Negotiation Leverage and Reduced Cost. Implemented a strategy focuses on reducing costs through the consolidation of 3 fabrication facilities. IMPACT: Reduced overall steel pricing by +/- 10% thereby reducing approx. 2% total cost of production to the company reduced complexity, lowered part-design cost segmented suppliers. Worldwide Sourcing: Assessment and Execution. Established sourcing plans and distribution and service networks. Managed interface between engineering and multiple purchasing offices in several different countries. IMPACT: Successfully negotiated logistics contracts and moved equipment and materials on several continents and oceans to a remote jungle area in Western Java within budgeted cost and planned schedule.
