- SQL Server enterprise environment comprised of 60 + servers. The databases range in size from small database to over 1 terabyte databases. This environment is managed by one SQL Server database administrators and a manager. We are responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring, configuration and optimizing of these databases. Standards are in place to ensure security, ability to recover from error, and enhance performance of the databases. Required activities are design, implement, maintain, monitor and administer complex databases combined with security, validation checks and space management. Perform daily full and transactional log backups including compressing backups. Backup software including SQL scripts and SQL LiteSpeed. Create DTS/SSIS packages (data import, export and manipulation), tables, store procedures, indexes, roles, jobs, and login accounts. Maintain and create replication (merge, transactional, and snapshot) for SQL Server 2000. Data modeling for new projects. Install and upgrade of MS SQL Server (7.0, 2000, and 2005) including security patches. Lead the DBA group ensuring that the group maintained optimal performance levels, best practices identify and resolve problems associated with database use. Provide assistance as needed for the other DBA. Working environment are Development, Test, Staging and Production systems. Worked closely with developers and business end users to understand and fulfill their business needs.
