Lanny has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in card program and portfolio management; marketing, operations and product development/management for credit, cobranded, affinity, debit, prepaid, stored value and chip card products; sales management, co-brand contract experience and consulting – with a focus on strategic planning and product innovation. Currently, Lanny is the Founder and President of Guerdon Solutions, LLC, a global loyalty and payments consulting business. He has been involved with the strategy and infrastructure set-up for a new rewards processing company in Latin America, “off shore” outsourcing of a call center, the development of a prepaid strategy in the fleet card industry and worked with a leading card processor in responding to a retail co brand RFP. He was Division President, of a leading loyalty, recognition and incentives business with major clients such as Allstate, Grainger and Apple Vacations. Most recently he has been involved in the development of a strategic vision and growth plans associated with a new payment type at the point-of-sale. Lanny began his career at Bank One in Columbus, Ohio in 1984 and held various operational and marketing assignments on the issuing side of the bankcard business. From 1984 to 1987 he was instrumental in various project implementations and managed Fraud Control. In 1987, he was on the initial team that developed and implemented a new business unit - the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Federal Credit Union. From 1989 to 1993, Lanny was directly responsible for Credit, Collections and Operations of the AARP credit card portfolio. He was responsible for managing such areas as Credit, Collections, Fraud Control, Monetary, Billing Disputes, Data Entry, Records/Retrieval and Response Processing. Emphasis in credit policy and collection activities during this time. In 1993, Lanny moved to the core business credit card Marketing group within Bank One. He was a Product Manager with accountability for profitability and market share through development of new products and product enhancements for all of the bank’s credit card products. He had additional responsibility for maintaining relationships with various bank partners, such as Vision Value Club and Northwest Airlines. During this time Lanny was responsible for the product development and launch of the first “smart” chip card credit card issued in the United States. In 1994, Lanny joined Bank of America. During his 5 years at the former Bank of America, he was head of the Cobrand Marketing group, with the responsibility for developing and implementing the bank’s strategy for competing in this market and was the General Manager of all the cobrand/affinity programs. He was responsible for the sales, contractual and financial proforma approach used by the bank in its ongoing pursuit of new business. Between 1996-97 he also was responsible for all of the banks efforts in acquiring new Bank of America branded accounts through a variety of channels; Bank branch, pre-approved and non-pre-approved direct mail, Internet, etc. After the merger of the former NationsBank and Bank of America in October 1998, Lanny was responsible for all of the new Bank of America’s cobranded and affinity partnerships, which included Alaska Airlines, America West Airlines, Diamond Sports, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns NBA affinity programs, REI Sporting Goods, Sunoco and Crown Oil, Time Publications/Southern Living magazine, US Airways and various other affinity programs. In 2000, Lanny joined Western Union (a First Data Company) as SVP and General Manager. He was responsible for developing the strategy, defining the system platform solution and organizational structure to implement and support a variety of prepaid card products. Lanny was Center Manager for a remote, full service card center in Fort Worth, Texas and had a product development group in Denver. Lanny launched the following programs during the last year: 1) First USA/Ebay Visa gift card, 2) ExtraMeasures MasterCard incentive card, 3) Revelation America MasterCard targeted to the unbanked and 4) developed a Virtual MasterCard that could only be used on the Internet. Lanny was Global Practice Leader/Senior Vice President and General Manager of the MasterCard Global Rewards Services & Loyalty Consulting business from 2001 – 2005. The business provided reward and loyalty strategic solutions around the world. He was responsible for all aspects of the business, from call centers and operations in the United States, Mexico, Brazil and the UK, to fulfillment of millions of dollars in merchandise, gift certificates and travel redemptions. The consulting practice completed numerous engagements which resulted in improved performance and profitability for clients. He was directly responsible for leveraging technology to create and deliver an innovative new program called Retail Automation Program (RAP), which has delivered world-class results for both card issuers and merchants. Lanny graduated from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is married, with two children and resides in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
