Superintendent / Project Manager

My current objective is to relocate my career from southern CA to the Prescott area of AZ. I have worked in construction since I was 16 years old. I am now 51 years old. Depending on how you count it, I have up to 20 years experience in construction management. My simple wish is to work, more often than not, in and around the Prescott area in my chosen field of construction management.

Ideal Companies: I have worked for multiple developers. I have found that the best work environment revolves around the people and management philosophy. Developers that adhere to a combination of a "Japanese/American" mix of management philosophies tend to have a higher costumer and subcontractor satisfaction rate. In this philosophy, the general contractor tends to build a working relationship with a group of subcontractors. A good relationship with the subcontractors means that the job runs smoother, everyone makes money and the schedule stays intact. When moving from project to project, 3 bids per trade keep each of your preferred subcontractors "pencils sharp". This means you always get a good contract, typically keep a team together, have fewer conflicts and higher customer satisfaction. You still need to write a tight "scope of work" and stay on top of your schedule, but if you run your job well, your subcontractors do develop a sense of loyalty to your firm, your job and your customers. In short my "ideal company" is one that develops a sense of family, community, and team that leads to a good pay check for all.
