Description
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS / ACCOMPLISHMENTS Skilled in database design, logical and physical modeling and have designed, developed, implemented, upgraded, and maintained over 300 internal and Web-facing databases. Provided systems administration, performance monitoring, capacity planning, maintenance, patching, and security including SOX, HIPPA, and PCI compliance, auditing, and completed projects for highly available, scalable, and recoverable systems. * Chief technical architect for Comdisco Web services (now SunGard) focusing on the infrastructure to support High Availability hosting, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery testing by clients. * Performance tuning of databases, environments, SQL and PL/SQL including packages, procedures, and functions and trigger code, and structural aspects (physical/logical) of Oracle databases in multiple environments. * Developed an 8 person DBA/development team (exclusive of off-shore teams) as the Director of DBA staff * Created data warehouses on HP, SUN, and IBM platforms - designing databases then offloading data from the mainframe via Oracle tools to load the data warehouses (ETL). * Architect logical and physical database designs or re-engineered existing designs for either performance enhancements or additional functionality. * Troubleshooting UNIX/Linux environments connected to SAN/NAS storage (reconfigurations) and part of several infrastructure management teams for ongoing capacity planning. * Re-architected SAN and NAS configuration for performance issues. * Mentor and technology transfer among peers, developers, and end user communities as required across UNIX, Windows, and database technologies as well as some networking diagnosis. * Maintained communications with management as required during development, testing, and releases. * Automate highly available database environments, storage, and networks using shell scripting, leverage storage using EMC / HDS / NetApp storage technologies, using packages such as VERITAS and BMC (RMAN) for backup policies and monitoring including application server restarts as required. Use of physical partitioning, and some design of Oracle partitioning for data warehouse use. * Worked in commercial and government environments across aerospace, entertainment, insurance, consulting, manufacturing, engineering, reservation systems, commercial software development, consumer packaged goods, marketing, advertising, and many retail environments. * Design and re-design of multiple databases across versions 7.x - 11.x, and reengineer from other platforms on to Oracle.
