Earlier, EFL instructor in L.A.'s Koreatown, providing academic and practical education for adults of diverse international origin. S.A.T. tutor at Chinese-owned test prep facility in Pasadena. Taught Conversational English for two years at Shingu University, in Seongnam, Korea. A visiting professorship. Reported to the dean of the college's media school. Competence in unrehearsed oral communication was the primary objective therefore, usage, the sound system, and metalinguistic variables (delivery skills) were emphasized. Taught English at the Changwon annex of the Seoul Language Institute, a private K-12 language academy. Chiefly, this was TOEFL prep, focusing on reading and listening comprehension skills, along with proficiency in such areas as paraphrasing, synthesis, and inductive reasoning. Responsible for evaluating entire school's IBT TOEFL writing test responses. Presided over intensive, eight-week S.A.T. Critical Reading and Writing workshop, for the school's advanced students. Led a number of classes devoted to the reading and critical discussion of English-language literature.
