Mr. Apley has broad experience in product development, as an object oriented designer, architect, developer, and manager, in diverse development efforts. In background, he practices continuous education in new technologies while developing and managing www.enflight.com, which provides the most advanced aviation briefing service available to General Aviation pilots. For several years the focus of his Enflight development work has been iOS applications for in-cockpit pilot use. Earlier work includes full LAMP stack development with PHP and Python. Mr. Apley has a research background that includes the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab, the MIT Architecture Machine Group (precursor to the MIT Media Lab), and PhD level jobs at Digital Equipment Corporation's Cambridge Research Laboratory, and Bitstream. His work on ubiquitous computing (wireless, portable applications) computer graphics, user-interface design, artificial intelligence and knowledge representation research is well regarded. Invented 'Transportation Brokerage Systems' technology (precursor to UBER, Lyft, in 1994) which led to Patent disclosures at Digital and winning Viant Entrepreneurship contest in 2004. Mr. Apley was granted some of the first software patents for typographic scaling in the 1980's, was awarded a patent in Aviation Weather symbology in August 2016, and has additional patents pending.
