Initial Initially hired to fill a long-term sub position in the food service department training area at Sunrise School for special needs student in Monroeville, PA. Worked with teacher in charge in a full commerical kitchen setting to train students for careers in all aspects of food service. Worked as a day-to-day substitue from elementary through high school levels at Sunrise School and Greensburg Salem School District. Transitioned to the Mission One division of the company in March 2017 to work as a one-on-one personal care assistant with a special needs student at Sunrise School. Copy editor/page designer, Trib Total Media concentration was to continue editing and designing pages for The Daily News which ceased publication on Dec. 31 2015. Upon its demise was given additional responsibilities in editing proofreading and paginating (page design) for other daily and weekly newspapers owned or formerly owned by the Tribune-Review. They include the Valley News Dispatch Pittsburgh and Westmoreland editions of the Trib the Connellsville Courier Leader Times in Kittanning and a string of weekly newspapers. Joined the staff of The Daily News founded in 1884, as a reporter. Expanded coverage and increased readership in assigned beat in a short time. Advanced to various editing and supervisory positions. Newspaper was sold to Trib Total Media in 2007. General assignment reporter, editor. Covered beats in the Pittsburgh eastern suburbs through breaking news meetings and feature stories. Highlights included a federal court case to eliminate school desegregation that resulted in creation of the Woodland Hills School District. Regular contributor to a consumer education feature. Advanced to suburban editor and page designer of several weekly publications. QUALIFICATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS Service to Journalism Award 05/12/2016 Received award from the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania as a 20-plus year reporter and editor of The Daily News in McKeesport, Pa. Founded in 1884, the newspaper ceased publication on Dec. 31, 2015.
