Description
COVER LETTER: Thank you for considering my application. I believe I would excel as an Associate Scientist in the biotech industry because of both my education and research background. While completing my Bachelor's in Laboratory Technology, I developed a deep appreciation of molecular biology. I have taken undergraduate and graduate level courses in genetics, immunology, biochemistry, and microbiology, as well as becoming involved in molecular biology research. I have presented posters and given oral presentations on my research at national conferences and meetings, and I am an author on a manuscript which was recently accepted to a high-impact journal. I feel I am a unique candidate in that the majority of my coursework focused on clinical biology (I am comfortable handling human specimens following CLIA guidelines), and my research has been in molecular biology (I am experienced in handling protein and nucleic acid samples). My skillset is diverse and includes techniques such as human blood smear preparation, protein extraction and SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, DNA extraction and PCR, and gene cloning. I know the amount of effort and resources that goes into biological research, so I hold my work to a high standard to ensure the results produced are the best possible. I work methodically and meticulously and am always excited to learn a new technique. I am a team player who can work in a group or follow the lead of others, but I am equally as comfortable working independently on the bench and communicating my methods and results in a presentation or a written report. I am highly self-motivated, I take pride in my work, and I enjoy seeing a task all the way through. Though my two years of lab work have been in an academic setting, I am excited by the prospect of working on the industry side of the biological sciences as well. Thank you again for your consideration and I look forward to speaking with you soon. OBJECTIVE: To secure an Associate Scientist position with a biotech company.
