Summary Prior to my 16 years of teaching high school NJROTC and mathematics, I had 29 years in the US Navy. My duties included: maintaining a guided missile system managing maintenance and operation of guided missile systems on a destroyer managing the Navigation Department on a destroyer managing maintenance, repair and operation of all auxiliary systems on an aircraft carrier managing maintenance, repair and operation of all engineering systems on a destroyer managing maintenance, repair and operation of all weapons systems on a destroyer Managed Managed the ship's Weapons Department with 5 Officers and 114 Enlisted assigned. Results: on time completion and a fully operational weapons system. * During ship's overhaul, managed over $2 million worth of shipyard repairs and over $1 million worth of ship's force repairs requiring coordination of shipyard and ship's force repair efforts to complete on time. Engineer Officer. USS MacDonough (DDG-39), FPO AA 34092-1257. * Managed the ship's Engineering Department with 6 Officers and 125 Enlisted assigned. * Results: no mission degrading casualties during deployment to War Zone. * During preparations for Operations Desert Shield/Storm deployment with tight repair schedules, managed over $1 million in contractor repairs and $1 million in ship's force repairs requiring close coordination of contractor and ship's force efforts. the ship's Auxiliary Division with 2 Officers and 90 Enlisted assigned. * Results: no mission degrading casualties during a six month deployment to the Indian Ocean. Managed Navigation Department with 12 Enlisted assigned. * Navigated the ship safely and accurately resulting on time arrival for every open ocean rendezvous and safe entry and exit of unfamiliar foreign ports. Supervised San Francisco, CA. Managed ship's Missile Division with 12 Enlisted assigned. * Results: the ship was awarded the missile "E" (the best missile system on a DD class ship on the west coast). * Production Test Tech. Hughes Aircraft Co. * Tested new production computers that went into the radar for the F-15 to ensure that it would pass US Air Force acceptance tests. maintenance and repair of guided missile equipment.
