Supritha Mundaragi Surendranath 335, North Wolfe Road, Apartment No. 336, Sunnyvale, CA 94085 Contact No: +1 (631) 889-3458 Email: suprithams1@gmail.com Dear Hiring Manager, With the utmost enthusiasm, I would like to express my interest in the Software Development and Engineering positions at your company. I graduated from Stony Brook University with a Masters in Computer Science in May 2016. Availing this opportunity, I believe that my interest in algorithms and passion for building innovative solutions makes me an ideal candidate for this position. As a candidate, here’s what I could immediately bring to the table: An experienced programmer: I have experience in several domains of computer science culminated by my involvement in several graduate and under-graduate course projects. Building projects gave me strong understanding of object oriented programming languages like Java, C++ and Python. Working on building a new operating system helped me understand the functionalities of an OS. Developing a traveller app, “Location Based Information Retrieval System” furnished my android programming skills. Obtaining user feedback by deploying the app helped me iteratively improvise the application and add features to it. Working with MySQL elevated my database management skills. A python implementation of the famous client server communication strategy yielding a distributed banking system where multiple clients can access networked banks through message passing, thus providing high availability and reliability furnished me with the knowledge of how distributed systems scale and work. Similarly working on several different platforms simultaneously has enhanced my skills of adapting quickly to new language and new coding environment. Strong algorithms and networking background: Building an alternative to fail2ban, I procured an in-depth understanding of OpenSSH, Joomla, WordPress, phpMyAdmin, iptables interfacing and firewalls. Collecting useful and systematic statistics of the attackers and their detailed information like region, time and number of attacks through honeypots deployed in several parts of the world aided in understanding the attacks that occur on the Internet and motivated me to come up with solutions to prevent and curb them. Implementing Gao-Rexford model on BGP information from AS vantage points obtained through Oregon RouteViews project to study the relationships between AS’s and how they change over time helped understand BGP- the most popular inter-domain routing protocol first-hand. Verifying these relationships against simBGP and RIPEstat tool, I was able to accomplish an accuracy of 97.1%. Front- End UI skills: Developing a user interface that identifies and displays all comorbidities in patient’s Radiology and EKG reports using natural language processing techniques and negation algorithms enhanced my HTML, JavaScript, PHP, JQuery and CSS skills. The deployment of the application in Stony Brook University Hospital bestowed me an opportunity to interact and work with a panel of doctors, radiologists and patients, which carved me into an excellent team player and a passionate developer. Everything I have engaged in so far has all been driven by my keen interest in programming. It is this passion that has driven every one of my career decisions so far. I would welcome the opportunity to interview with you. Thank you very much for your consideration. I look forward to receiving your reply. Sincerely, Supritha Mundaragi Surendranath.
