Description
September 11, 2016 Dear Sir/Madam, As advertised on your website, I would like to apply for the Assistant Director of Education position. My passion for the care, well-being, respect and the development of children has allowed me to work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children and their families. I am a graduate of El Camino College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have also completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree at California State University, Long Beach in Child Development and Family Studies. I have recently completed my Master of Arts Degree in Human Development/Early Childhood Education from Pacific Oaks College. While working as a student teacher, I received extensive training in such courses as Fieldwork with Infant and Toddlers. Here, I learned how to plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans. Teaching fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social and emotional skills, cognitive and language developmental skills, as well as sensory and creative skills for large and small groups and especially for individual students also taught me to value the culture and diversity of each child. In addition, I learned that teaching cultural diversity in preschools year round is significant because teachers are seeing increased differences in race and ethnicity in their classroom. This changing composition of early childhood classrooms has challenged me to be more responsive to the diverse needs of all students as I consider each students cultural identities. Thank you for your time. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the available position. Sincerely, Yvette Lykes
