Description
SUMMARY 31 years experience in plastics industry. Project Leader for microPEP (Precision Engineered Products). Started as draftsman. Then Mold Designer. Then Product Designer. Then Project Leader in 1989. Assisted sales associates and customer prospects with new plastic products including cost estimates. Well versed in all injection-moldable resins. ACCOMPLISHMENTS * Designed approximately (30) injection molds, procured builds for each, and qualified into production. * Drove product design, mold design, mold build, and qualification of approximately (40) molds ranging from single-cavity prototypes to multi-tool, 16-cavity, hot-manifold, cam-action molds. Qualification of most required AIAG PPAP standards. * Designed several plastic products and assemblies for Playschool (Hasbro) and directed model shop builds prior to production tool releases. * Pioneered Matrix activities moving into sub-micron tolerance molding on single and multi- cavity tools. This included working with customer on required design changes, directing tool builds, and procuring manufacturing equipment to support (molding machines, robotics, CMM's, de-gating equipment, measurement fixtures, etc.). * Introduced and collaborated on design and build of first reel-to-reel molding system for microPEP. This is a medical product that required a new molding machine, stamped and formed SS components on reel (selective gold plating), full automation, stamp de-gating, custom packaging, camera feedback to machine, and IQ/OQ/PQ qualification. * Developed mold design and construction of molds for micro-optic / micron-tolerance products for fiber-optic Datacom and medical products that entailed diamond-turned mold inserts, functional test equipment, custom packaging, and clean-room molding practices. Most required APQP discipline and IQ/OQ/PQ qualification. * Wrote Excel program for quick (possibly immediate on-site with prospect) to estimate part cost. Page 2
