Extensive flange design experience. Performed stress analysis per API 6A on all previously mentioned equipment. Extensive use of solidworks and COSMOS. 2009 to 2011 – Senior Project Engineer, General Electric Corp. Contracted as a Senior Design Engineer for large scale power generation equipment. I was project lead over several designers designing the cooling and skids for the equipment. 2006 to 12/2009 – Project Engineer (Astronaut Tool Projects), Science Applications International Corporation, Houston TX. Project/Design/Test Engineer for astronaut tools & hardware used in the manned and unmanned space shuttle/station building program. This included taking projects from initial concept, design, budget, scheduling & testing (included creating/righting test procedures, parameter specifications, test fixture design, test monitoring) to completion, installation and troubleshooting. Project examples include tools for shuttle fixes, space station assembly & space station structural upgrades. 2004 to 2006 - Senior Project Engineer/Scientist IV, MDA Corporation, Houston, TX – Robotics and Spacecraft Design Company Project/Design Engineer working in support of the Space Shuttle Remote Manipulator System (robotic arm) & design upgrades to the Space Station Robot. These projects included robotic interfaces and improved handling capabilities. The company provided robotics training and Pro-E & Solidworks training. Complete responsibility for design, bid proposals, budget, schedule and testing. 1990 to 2003 - Project/Design Engineer, Lockheed Martin Engineering & Sciences, Houston, TX NASA prime contractor; providing Shuttle Flight Support Equipment, in-flight Shuttle experiments, and specialized hardware. Responsible for the end-to-end completion of various Shuttle and Space Station projects. As a design engineer, responsible for the concept and design of specialized tools and hardware for astronaut use and monitoring/directing the machine shop progress. This included taking projects from initial concept, design, budget, scheduling & testing (included creating/righting test procedures, parameter specifications, test fixture design, test monitoring) to completion, installation and troubleshooting. Major projects included: Project Lead on 2 DTO (Detailed Test Objective) missions: Astronaut hand/power tools & IMAX camera mounting/operations) and Lead Project Engineer on fluid pumping/oxygen/ electrical connections systems for the space station airlock to support astronaut activities. Also included repairs and upgrades to thermal/vacuum & vibration test facilities. Personally responsible for the Airlock (EMU deployment) to the space station. Also, included extensive work on the EMU space suit – thermal upgrades, and improvements to the environmental systems. Solid Pro-E experience.
