I am a highly experienced teacher with 14 years working in Dearborn. I started my career at the high school, and have been teaching at the middle school level for the past 13 years. I am certified at the secondary level (grades 6-12) and am experienced in both the Social Studies (American History, World History, and Government are my experiences) and in Language Arts (I have taught at both the 7th and 8th grade levels, Literature and Composition). In my teaching assignments, I have worked in schools with a high at-risk population and a majority of bilingual (ESL) students. I have received much training in bilingual strategies, special education strategies, scaffolding, and differentiated instruction. I also have experience using many different forms of technology in the classroom to enhance social studies instruction. My most recent training with ARCGIS (Aeronautical Reconnaissance Coverage Geographic Information Systems) and using Google Earth in the classroom make me an excellent candidate as a Social Studies or Language Arts support staff for a STEM program.
