I have just retired from 32 years in the military. In my last position, I was the 107th Airlift Wing Commander in charge of 850 personnel & over $1.5B of equipment at the Niagara Falls Airbase. I had four distinct Groups under me: Operations (Aircrew); Maintenance (fixed aircraft/logistics); Medical (Docs/Nurses/ Dentist/ Environmental Health, etc.) & finally a Mission Support Group (HR/IT/Security Forces/Civil Engineering/Billeting & Food Services). In addition, I was responsible for a $50M annual budget to include all strategic planning, Public Affairs, JAGs, Inspector General for the unit.
