I had the enjoyable experience of managing all financial operations for White River Paper Co., a Vermont-based distribution company, as the company grew from $7 million to $17 million in sales. As director of finance I managed accounts receivable, accounts payable. I oversaw company budgeting, automated payroll and the 401(k) retirement and benefits. In 1993 I assumed the position of Vice President and Controller of the company and also became a Member of Board of Directors. In my capacity as Vice President of the company, I managed cash to provide optimum return of company assets and relationships. I oversaw the automation of the company inventory purchasing system reducing dead stock and increasing turns to exceed industry standard. I also trained and managed an accounting staff of 5 and oversaw all accounting functions, in addition to advising all department managers to improve efficiency, accuracy and profitability. In 2014, I provided succession planning recommendations for 2 generations of a 4 generation family owned business and ultimately oversaw the acquisition, merging and integration of two separate companies, with 5 separate locations and 100 employees. I have since relocated to North Carolina to be closer to family.
