Description
Knowledge and learning for me are the true apostles of virtue and ethics. I strongly believe that knowledge acquisition is the talisman for success. Individualistic to the core I am a dynamic, versatile and an avid learner. Since early childhood I have displayed an intensive interest in the field of science, especially in Biological Sciences. In fact, it was in keeping with my profound interest in the field of science that I chose the field of microbiology for my undergraduation. However, over the course of years I have developed a stronger interest in field of Biotechnology which has rapidly advanced and offers a tremendous potential for research and analysis. It offers an inexhaustible plethora of opportunities for growth and development and I aspire to specialize in this. In the long run I envision myself as engaged with a based firm while working on relevant and lucrative research projects. I did my Bachelors in Microbiology from one of the most elite institutions, Gargi College which is working under the auspices of University of Delhi (GPA 3.95/4.00 ).I did my Masters in Biotechnology( GPA 3.9/4.0) from one of the most well-known university, Florida Institute of Technology. The University is reputed for its academic rigor and scholastic excellence. It has won consistent aplomb for its mission of ensuring a holistic development of its students. I have immensely benefited that I have been evolving under the guidance of its distinguished faculty. My college as a mentor has instilled in me several traits such as perseverance, diligence, assiduousness and determination to work under duress. Academically I have always maintained a good record and while classroom teaching is indisputably significant, I feel that I have learnt mostly while working on projects and internship programs. In lieu of my bachelor’s degree I have worked as an intern with National Center for Disease Control. Herein my designation was that of a Junior Lab Assistant and my responsibilities varied. I worked in the Environmental polio surveillance lab for processing of sewage samples for polio viruses. For the same samples were collected from 7 different sites suggested by WHO (World Health Organization) and processed under specific lab procedures in order to check for polio viruses. I also worked on bacteriological water testing by MPN (most probable number) technique. The basic aim of bacteriological water testing was to test the quality of water samples coming from different places in Delhi. I also worked in RCH (Rubella, Cytomegalia and Herpes) Lab to test for these diseases using blood samples of patients from different hospitals. As an intern I also learnt the techniques of serum separation from blood samples. I have worked as an intern with Cancer Care Center of Brevard (Summer 2014). Responsibilities involved observing cancer patients, studying their Case history. Lab work involved observing the type of drugs being administered to the patients and certain kind of tests such as Bone marrow and blood tests. Besides this I have also worked on rain water harvesting system which is now being adopted by several newer architectural ventures as a means of water conservation. I feel that working on these projects have benefited me immensely as I learnt how to do literature survey, disseminate and organize material, arrange data according to their relevance and hone my presentation skills. It also taught me how to manage time and work in a team. Currently as a part of my research, I am working on plants like Arabidopsis to study the identification and effect of an ethylene-responsive region in the promoter of specific plant genes. While academics are my mainstay I also like to take an active part in co-curricular activities. Arts and aesthetics especially is where my interest and talent lies. I enjoy volunteering for community service programs . Essentially, by temperament I am a disciplined and sincere person and accordingly I have been a part of the prefectural team during my schooling years. I have a strong sense of responsibility and commitment and always prove true to my word. I am confident that given a chance I will prove myself through my sheer grit and scholastic aptitude that I am a deserving student. I am willing to work as a research associate as it would help me to enhance my skills and abilities, where I would get an opportunity to learn from scholars from all over the world with their varied ethnic, scholastic, cultural and intellectual background.
