July 1st, 2015, Thank you for taking the time to review my resume, I understand that as the human resource administrator you may be viewing many resumes on a daily basis, but I am sure after reading through my profile you would definitely deem me as a well qualified candidate! I know the first thing you might have noticed is that I don’t have a lot of prior work experience in Finance, but that is because my undergraduate degree is in premed/public health and I didn’t get a Master degree in Finance until September 2014. I went to University of California Irvine for undergraduate with the intention to become a dentist. I was never interested in being a pre-med major, but my parents pushed me into it, and therefore my GPA back in undergrad wasn’t stellar(GPA 3.2). My parents forced me to take one year off from work in pre-med post-bac program to “repair” my GPA in the hopes that I would eventually get into dental school. However, after I graduated for a while and got financial independence from my parents I decided that being a dentist is not for me and what I really want to pursue is Investment and Finance. Then, last year I went to University of York, United Kingdom and completed a Master in Finance degree. I worked hard during my graduate study and consistently maintained grades on top 15% of my class for all my modules except dissertation. I guess I just wanted to prove to everyone that although I am a late career changer, through hard-work I could still perform as well or even better than what other people expect of me. As for my future career path, I plan to become a corporate financial analyst. I have always been a more technical person with strong quantitative and analytical skills, and I have always had a knack for interpreting and drawing conclusion from data. For me, other than making a living, the most important determinant of whether I want to hold a job is whether I enjoy the job as I am doing it daily. I totally think the job responsibility of a corporate financial analyst fascinates me. In fact, funding and budgeting is extremely important for the health of an organization and even if a lot of times the decisions business owners make revolves mainly around the finances of the company. Because the finances of the company can make or break the company, that is how pivotal the job of a financial analyst, including preparing financial and interpreting financial reports, modelling and forecasting, monitoring and meting out the budgets to help the company grow in the proper direction, is. I am fain to learn such important skills on my job as I am sure such skills would be essential as well as helpful for me in the future. I hold the philosophy that a job applicant should not only ask what his employer has to offer him but what he can bring to his employer. Some of the attribute I can bring to the workplace include a respect for other people’s time, other people’s rights, and other people’s advices. Positive attitude, as I believe pessimism would never make things better but positivity inspires others. I believe in innovation and creativity, and I am someone fain to try new changes, as long as it is for the better. I have strong leadership and people organization skills, and I think it is important to actuate those around me for the right cause. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you. There are many things that cannot be expressed through writing, but I am sure after interviewing me you would discover my many other qualifications well-suited to become a high-caliber employee in your company! Sincerely, Kuan-Ying Chao
