Description
I offer a unique skill set gained through broad academic, business, and military experience. Earning an M.B.A. gave me the in depth knowledge and analytic capabilities in business strategy, marketing, finance, communications, and law that complimented the technical knowledge and problem solving skills I learned in obtaining an engineering degree. This combined with the operational leadership and decision making skills learned and practiced as an Air Force officer and aviator to enable me to make a long-term positive impact as a senior leader. In my previous career at Motorola I had over 20 years of success as an engineer and senior manager in the land mobile radio business. Assignments in which I made a significant impact included significant customer interaction as part of the initial engineering cadre for the Customers’ Center for Systems Integration staging facility, business and market strategy including large bid responses in Systems Planning, and managing the Central Systems Engineering team providing direct customer support on escalated product issues. I was a consistent top performer that took the generous Voluntary Severance Package offered to all senior managers to accept a job as an airline pilot at Expressjet Airlines. Flying Embraer 145 regional jets operating United Express flights has been both enjoyable and challenging, building upon my long time part time work as a Certified Flight Instructor and previous military experience. In today’s technologically advanced cockpits the primary job function of the airline pilot is real time risk management, giving me uniquely valuable experience in critical operational environments. I now look forward to using a broader range of my skills and experience to make a more significant difference by returning to a business leadership role.
