Description
Scott Hartman Pennsylvania State University Hello, my name is Scott Hartman I am a senior at The Pennsylvania State University majoring in Industrial Engineering with a focus in Manufacturing Processes. I will be graduating December 21, 2013 and am looking to continue with an opportunity in the field of casting and manufacturing. Growing up with a father that owned his own machine shop, I have had exposure in the manufacturing field since I was 14 years old. Starting when I was a freshman in high school, I was working within a machine shop deburring and cleaning finished parts and have furthered my skills to designing models in CAD, programming and running CNC machines, and completing quality inspections for Cardinal Precision Co. I have 4+ years in programming and running CNC machines (Haas, Kitamura, Mori Sieki, Fadal) because of this unique experience in my family’s business. I was also able to complete a G-Code community college course with workers from Cardinal Precision. I have been responsible for the entire process from sawing to completing the CNC process to finishing quality inspections using various metrology tools at this company for the past 4 years and have improved heavily since my beginnings. From there I have taken this knowledge and expanded it at Penn State by enrolling in multiple material science, manufacturing process, and metal casting classes. I have completed engineering design, engineering mechanics, system design and analysis, principles of solidification processing (using SolidCast), linear programming, and metal casting classes as well as countless semester long projects that have all helped me to prepare for a successful future not only as an engineer but as a leader. At Penn State I have been a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the American Foundry Society which has given me insight into the business and opportunities of casting and manufacturing that I would not have had otherwise. I have had the opportunity to work for Anvil International as a foundry process intern for a summer and worked using SolidWorks, NovaFlow, and AutoCAD to learn and aid in multiple projects within their business. I was involved in an A3 process analysis and Kaizen to help improve Anvil’s northern foundry’s flow and efficiencies where I completed time studies and problem solving sessions to determine what the areas of need were. I also helped to lead and complete their trim press project in designing new trim press dies for coupling castings in SolidWorks in addition to implementing self-designed trim press cells into their newly redesigned north foundry. In all, I have had over 8 years of experience working with all kinds of materials from plastics to aluminum, brass, steels, and irons through my work with Cardinal Precision, Anvil International, and Penn State. I have been engrossed in the manufacturing field ever since I can remember and am very excited to bring my services to a company that will believe in me and provide me the opportunities to show them what I can do. Thank you.
