RssEngineer - 1 Years of Experience - Near 21029

Howard Wu is a research assistant and a master's student graduated from Center for Building Performance and Diagnostics, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He majored in civil engineering in undergraduate school and earned a Master of Science focusing on building energy simulation and sustainable design. He has extensive experience in building energy modeling and is very familiar with energy building codes and standards. In the past semesters, he performed several energy simulations evaluating the energy performances of buildings that comply with existing standards, such as ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, Energy Star, and Passive House. The energy performances of alternative designs, such as PV panels, solar hot water systems, and natural ventilation were also analyzed to seek higher building efficiency. Besides energy analysis, he obtained an in-depth knowledge in the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) through his thesis research, The Optimal Strategy of Dynamic Skylight. He led the skylight field experiment, collaborated with the technology sponsors, and performed intensive data analysis using MS Excel and Access to evaluate thermal comfort, light level, glare, and night insulation benefits of dynamic skylight systems. In order to conduct the analysis, he studied extensively on building lighting and thermal standards such as ASHRAE 55 and IESNA standard. His advisors commended me for my creative problem solving skills, and for my ability to deliver quality work quickly and efficiently. He is currently looking for a full-time job related to building energy modeling, building information modeling, and sustainable consulting.
