EXPERIENCE SUMMARY: I started my law enforcement career as a police cadet with the City of Kansas City Kansas in 1987, and I am currently a Deputy Chief of Police (LTC) with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department. As a manager I have facilitated successful action plans to legally identify, disrupt, and dismantle the elements and individuals that facilitate or perpetuate crime. These initiatives involved positive partnerships with stakeholders, which contributed in helping Kansas City Kansas to consistently experience lows in violent crime. QUALIFICATIONS * Kansas City Kansas Police Department/Military * (Current) Deputy Chief of Police - Director Bureau of Police Services * This assignment required me to facilitate the highest level of responsive and professional support service to both our community and departmental stakeholders. Within this assignment I manage the support service components of the Kanas City Kansas Police Department. These components include but are not limited to the communications dispatch center, the police records and administration unit, the criminal investigations division, the crime scene investigation unit, the police logistics and evidence maintenance unit, and the support I.T. services functions for the department. * (Jan 2015 - Dec 2015) Deputy Chief of Police - Director Bureau of Police Operations * Within this assignment I managed the primary operational component of the Kansas City Kansas Police Department. Covering approximately 125 square miles, serving a population of approximately 150,000, with over 225 sworn officers, this bureau is the largest component that encompasses a multi-million dollar operating budget of taxpayer allocated funding. The position requires me to be directly responsible for coordinating resources to address community problems, reducing crime, and managing personnel both effectively and responsibly. My managerial obligations include all uniformed field services, the animal control unit, the K-9 unity, vice and narcotics operations, federal task force assignments, traffic support, swat operations, EOD, the hostage negotiation team, community policing functions, school resource officers, city alarm coordination, crisis intervention team, and assisting with relevant labor union matters of concern. In cooperation with citizens, my primary management goal is to facilitate public safety through the responsive, effective, and efficient delivery of professional police service throughout Kansas City, Kansas. * (Aug 2014 - Jan 2015) Interim Assistant Chief of Police - A/Director, Bureau of Police Services * This assignment required me to facilitate the highest level of responsive and professional support service to both our community and departmental stakeholders. I managed S.W.A.T., VICE, I.T., Dispatch, K-9, and Narcotic interdiction. * 2011 - 2014 Police Executive Officer Major - Assistant Director Bureau of Operations * As a senior manager I was tasked with aiding the Executive Director in managing the police departments uniform field operation component as well as being directly responsible for senior management of the community policing unit. * 2006 - 2011 Police Major - Division Commander West Patrol / Central Patrol * As a Division Commander I was primarily tasked with working in close partnership with citizens, while also providing professional police service through the effective allocation of resources to specific geographic areas within Kansas City, Kansas. * (2002-2006) Captain- Assistant Division Commander, West Patrol / Central Patrol (Middle Manager)
