Kathleen Roche Director, Administrator, RN; Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant After graduating from the University of South Carolina with High Honors and a BS in Nursing, Kathleen Roche began her career in the 1980’s at Kaiser Permanente in California. Her work there covered every aspect of nursing and patient care, from Internal Medicine to Cardiology to Quality Assurance. She began her interest in administration as well, working with the medical team that provided care to the San Francisco 49ers. After attending UC Davis and graduating from the Department of Family Practice in the specialty of a Family Nurse Practitioner, she attended UC San Francisco and obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in Health Services, She received further training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education Management Development Program. In 1997, Kathleen joined Pace University/Lenox Hill Hospital and was the inaugural Director and Chair of their Physician Assistant program. Being a Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner, she was awarded a $450,000 HRSA grant to write a curriculum for Pas And Family Nurse Practitioners based on quality patient experience from a psychosocial and chronic care perspective. Starting with just 18 students and four core faculty members, she created a Master’s program which now boasts 85 students and has tripled its faculty. She lectures on geriatrics, orthopedics, teaches various clinical small group practical sessions, and performs ER site visits. In 2014 she was made the first Chair of the Physician Assistant Program at Pace, and has lead the program through four accreditation visits. Kathy has never lost her thirst for patient contact, spending 6 to 8 hours a week at as a visiting Nurse Practitioner for Medical House Calls under Dr. Lyons, working for him as the lead Family Nurse Practitioner. She also was selected Lenox Hill Hospital to be the Nurse Practitioner for the homebound in a pilot program to decrease ER admissions. Throughout her career she has served on institutional medical committees – everything from Quality Assurance to Governance committees. In addition to attending annual meetings of her medical societies, she has published and presented on a variety of topics (see attached). 2013 Roche, K.
