Summary: Over eighteen years of experience in diagnostic testing of substation, generating, and industrial facilities power equipment ranging from 480V to 345KV. Primary duties at the LCRA: * Perform diagnostic tests on electrical equipment to include circuit breakers, transformers, voltage regulators, surge arresters, rotating machinery, capacitor banks, metering equipment to include potential transformers, station voltage transformers, current transformers and, coupling capacitors. * Perform oil insulation power factor and dielectric tests for the equipment as listed above where applicable, as well as performing oil sampling for dissolved gas analysis and breaker oil analysis. * Maintain and operate the following listed test sets: Doble M4200 Power Factor test set, Doble M4110 Leakage Reactance Interface, Doble TDR9000 Motion Analysis test set, Doble M5400 SFRA test set, Doble M4120 External Reference for testing capacitor banks, Vanguard and Biddle Transformer Turns Ratio test sets, Arbiter Transformer Combustible Gas Meter, Vanguard Digital Low Resistance Ohm Meter, Vanguard Megger test set. * Update and manage various software databases for records keeping of all test reports. * Evaluate and develop documentation of all test results along with making recommendations for any corrective actions that may be required. * Interpret wiring schematics for the operation and testing as well as perform simple and complex troubleshooting of control circuits in the above listed equipment. * Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers and other LCRA personnel. * Maintain and follow safety and environmental compliance in the performance of all assigned duties following the scope of company policies. Other Duties: * Provide day to day guidance and direction to less experienced technicians in the practice of safe and proper use of tools and procedures for performing all associated work. * Perform switching operations in according to standard procedures and in coordination with LCRA system operations control center personnel. * Assist substation maintenance crews in the maintenance and repair of substation equipment on an occasional basis. * Assist on an occasional basis in online testing of batteries and infrared thermography.
