I would like to highlight credentials and experience, and provide some ideas about how I would approach the role, if appointed. My strengths include strong professional drive and decision-making abilities, candor, good technical knowledge of core aspects of environment and climate change issues including tools for environmental management implementation. In addition I possess, strong client management skills, and enjoy, fostering team work. Credentials and Experience: My technical expertise lies in environmental system analysis and monitoring, including a strong working knowledge on the fundamentals of environmental systems analysis, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), prediction and forecasting methods and models for environmental impact analysis. I hold a Masters degree in Environmental science (MSc) and a first degree in Plant Science (B.Sc. Degree), coupled with considerable practical experience in Environmental and Agriculture issues. I have over 22 years experience in environmental management, environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, agricultural research, and management of large scale cotton, fruit, and cereal crop farming practices. Prior to joining the World Banks South Sudan Office in 2011, my 20 years environment and climate change experience includes positions within Government institutions, research centers, private sector organizations and consultancy firms, including and World Bank funded projects in Ethiopia. For example in my tenure as a consultant, in company Mid-Day International Consulting Engineers, I conducted various environmental impact assessment studies and generated analysis and management planning reports including: an EIA and ESMP report for a mega hydropower projects; an ESIA and ESMP for mega cement factory; and the preparation of a resettlement action plan (RAP) for a number of road and water resources projects. In this capacity I also worked as an Environmental Inspector for hydropower plants during their construction, and provided training on World Bank Environmental safeguard policies. I have also worked in the Ministry of Water Resources for the Government of Ethiopia in a World Bank Financed project as Environmental Specialist. My experience with World Bank funded projects also includes participating in the design and supervision of a (insert type of project) project and providing advice on critical safeguard implementation issues, technical environmental support, and advising on monitoring and compliance issues for adherence to National and International Environmental Policies. Approach to the Work. My approach to the work both in the world bank and other institutions would focus on a number of concerns: a) securing a strong grasp of the technical issues for effective and substantive delivery of results; b) identifying and working in an open and team based environment and actively involving client input into devising and implementing safeguard strategies; c) ensuring the challenge of managing safeguard issues are articulated and agreed upon; d) motivating and supporting colleagues and counterparts to deliver a high work program; e) focusing on critical goals, issues, and their linkages; (f) appreciating the importance of environmental issues for delivering a sustained program in South Sudan. This approach requires maintaining a consistently successful relationship with the Government of South Sudan, alongside all other key stakeholders, as well as establishing productive relationships with all donors. With substantial first hand expertise and experience in South Sudan on environmental management issues, couple with over two decades of expertise I feel I could execute the responsibilities of this position to in a timely and effective manner. To that end I feel that I am a good candidate for this position in your organization and would welcome the opportunity to interview for the position.
