To whom it my concern, I am seeking an opportunity in management that will allow me the opportunity to improve and utilize the skills I have gained from my experience and education. I am a graduate from Taylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. I understand excellent people skills and a articulate communicator generates positive results. Organizing, planning, systematic decision making, and goal setting are vital tools I utilize to achieve success today. Before joining Steel Technologies I was a Retail Store Manager. From 1987 to 1997 I managed 13 stores in various locations throughout the Michigan, Indiana and Chicago Regions. As the Manager I was responsible for the hiring and training of employees, sales training, merchandise communications, cash and inventory controls, inventory audits and payroll control. I am currently employed at Steel Technologies in Portage, Indiana. For the past 14 years I have gained experience in the industrial setting. For the first 3 years I operated a 48" Slitter (.029-.120gage), then I spent the next five years as a 72" Slitter operator (.190-.622 gage) with cross training experience on the 60" and 24" slitters, and 12" and 20" rolling mills. I am currently working as a scale man in the shipping and handling department and plant safety coordinator. While achieving success at each position, I became a passionate safety coordinator for the Portage Plant Safety Department. As the leader of the safety team I sharpened my job knowledge and operational skills as we paved our way to a zero recordable rate for the past 4 years. As an operator I became familiar with a variety of routines, techniques, trouble shooting and problem solving skills necessary to produce quality steel in a safe and prompt manner. As the Safety Coordinator, I have the opportunity to communicate safety to all employees at different levels. This multitask job gives me the ability to utilize my public speaking, investigation, creativity, and leadership skills in order to communicate safety. I wanted to inform you of some of the vital training and experience that would make me an asset for your company.
