I am a highly experienced social worker with a concentration in community behavioral health, medication and clinical case management. After 25 years, I have expanded my scope and obtained the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Home, School, and Visitor Certification. I am currently working in a urban school (grades 6-12) collaborating with a team of educators identifying special and general education learning obstacles as related to diverse learners. Addressing cultural diversity, anti- violence and other public education concerns that directly affect the students ability to learn, grow and thrive. Completing evaluations and working closely with the Special Education Coordinator and teachers to implement interventions that ensure academic success as measured by achievement on Individualized Education Program goals and student grades. Compliance with federal, state, and local educational and child welfare mandates. Monitoring student attendance according to the Federal, State and Local district education policy mandates. Develop, implement and monitor Truancy Elimination Plans to promote school attendance. Referral and Collaboration with providers from organizations including but not limited to Children and Youth Services, Department of Juvenile Justice - Probation and Parole. Provision of solution focused brief individual therapy, mentoring and coaching specifically focused on improving self-regulation, reduction of problem behaviors, and emotional engagement skills that promote conflict resolution and management of anger. Teach positive behaviors, promote social emotional development, and ensure a school climate conducive to learning.
