Mechanical Engineer, Albuquerque

I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering on December 2012. I am very interested in joining your engineering team. My senior design team and I (total of 6 students with myself included) designed a core exercise machine that targets all muscles of the core while minimizing lower back injuries. We are currently looking into getting a patent for it. During our senior design class we had to come up with customer specifications that were derived via a general population survey. Once we had our customer specifications, we began to come up with five design alternatives that would meet all desired specifications. All of our designs were produced using ProEngineer. We put all designs through finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure that they all met our desired factor of safety. Then, we decided on a final design that met all of our specifications best and began the manufacturing stage of our project. The prototype was then machined, assembled, and painted in order to be presented to a board of engineers. We tested the effectiveness of our machine through EMG muscle activation tests. I was in charge of creating all design alternatives using ProEngineer and tested all alternatives using MECHANICA. I also contributed greatly to the machining of parts as well as the assembly of the entire unit. I was in charge of keeping the materials list within budget so that we could meet our price specification. I am very confident in planning and designing projects in a number of different computer programs (listed in my resume), and am especially efficient at using ProEngineer. I possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both English and Spanish. I am very used to being under pressure as well as meeting deadlines. I can relocate at any time, if need be. I have not taken the FE exam but am planning on taking it this year.
