I am a graduate of Florida Southern College, one of the foremost schools educating new teachers. During my courses, I worked for many schools in various teaching settings, assuming the role of the sole teacher on many occasions. During my junior and senior years, I worked as the individual teacher in two different classrooms, under supervising instructors. I have the experience and background necessary to effectively teach and manage a classroom of learners. With a dynamic and adaptive teaching style and a background in special education, I would be an asset to your school and students.
After graduation, I spent four years at Camelot School, first teaching third, fourth and fifth graders, then switching to kindergarten and first grade. My work consisted of all teaching responsibilities as well as acting as the music, art, and technology teacher for my students. I have created my own school forms (i.e. report cards, etc.) from scratch, and developed fliers that went home to the whole school.
I worked two years at Skyview Elementary School - one year as an hourly teacher and another as an assistant teacher in a 4th and 5th grade I.V.E. room. My responsibilities there consisted of teaching reading groups, teaching kindergarteners reading, writing and language skills, and working with students who were struggling with math and reading. Through these positions and other past teaching experiences, I have had the opportunity to work in multiple grade levels and various types of classrooms (regular, self-contained, and multi-grade). Through my experiences, I have been able to exhibit valuable teaching methods. I effectively utilize differentiated instruction on a daily basis to provide authentic and meaningful learning experiences for all of my students. I also set my students up for success through cooperative learning, by teaching to multiple intelligences, and with hands-on learning. I continue to encounter diverse learning styles and needs, and I am able to adjust my teaching methods accordingly. This assists students in reaching their full potential for personal development and educational success. I collaborate with numerous teachers, specialists, parents, and paraprofessionals to ensure that we work as a team to educate our students. I am currently duly certified in both Prekindergarten/Primary Education (age 3 through grade 3) and Elementary Education (grades K-6). This would benefit your district, as I fully embrace the idea of an inclusive classroom and would be able to support my students who have various learning needs.
