This included: dredges (hydraulic cutter, clamshell, and self-propelled hoppers), tug boats, derrick cranes, scow barges, work boats, crew boats, heavy (CAT) machinery, warehouses, office sites, and storage yards * Monitored both waterside and shoreside welding/cutting/hot work operations (daily). Performed QC inspections on the welding process (daily) * Monitored Derrick Crane operations (daily) - working over water spaces, reviewed critical lift plans, performed crane inspections to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards * Monitored heavy equipment landside use (daily), which included CAT D7 and D8 Dozers, and CAT 966 Front-End Loaders * Lockout / Tagout Manager on various dredges to ensure electrical safety when work was being performed on both low and high voltage electrical systems * Material handling - Closely monitored the use, handling, and storage of all Hazardous Materials and Waste (daily), such as waste oil on vessels. Also maintained MSDS books * Conducted various Safety and Health training on a regular basis, to include OSHA Compliant PPE Use, Confined Space Entry, Respirator Use, and Fall Protection Use * Monitored and created (as needed) all jobsite AHAs (Activity Hazard Analyses) * Created daily, weekly, and monthly Safety reports for upper management and client review * Periodically performed a Multiple Cause Incident Analysis (MCIA), acting as the Lead Investigator, conducting detailed investigations (using the Tap Root Analysis method) into all Accidents, "Near Miss" Incidents, and Injuries. Worked with Dredge Captain and/or senior site managers to create reports, develop remedial actions, and make recommendations for process improvement and hazard mitigation. Also trained other personnel in incident investigation procedures. * Arranged for robust safety and QC inspections on vessels under contract on each job site. Trained Safety Staff in inspection methods and provided personal oversight of these inspections. * Coordinated, scheduled, and participated in site inspections with government agencies and regulatory bodies, and reported findings to corporate management. * Reviewed and updated Safety and Occupational Health policies and procedures, ensuring they were accurate, current, and reflected the latest Regulatory, Industry, and Company standards and requirements.
