Background: I posses excellent knowledge through past employment and experiences that would further enhance my contributions to your corporation. Those experiences I mention pertain to a Project Management and Management background. I have a somewhat diverse skill set with a number of interests and capabilities. I enjoy being a team player and have been able to rise to challenges. I have enjoyed all aspects of business which is why I obtained a bachelors degree in business management. I have tremendous appreciation of what makes a business successful. One of my most rewarding working assignment was with AT&T and their then customer GTE Hawaiian Tel. This was a first time win for AT&T to provide engineering, drafting and construction support for GTE's outside plant utilities. I spent 15 months in Hawaii working on the project. I was responsible for creating a drafting department from the ground up, that had five offices on the four major islands. I purchased all needed equipment for CAD and manual drafting capabilities, hired a staff, provided all necessary training, and supported 90+ engineers. I arrived in Hawaii the Monday after Hurricane Iniki devastated the island of Kauai. AT&T assisted in the task of restoring Kauai's phone network post Iniki. I would manage an evening crew responsible for the drawings needed for that relief work on Kauai. This evening second shift lasted the first three months of my assignment. I also took it upon myself to manage a small fleet of engineering vehicles for site surveys as staffing was tight. I have an Associates Degree in Electronics and have considerable computer background with 12 years of diverse CAD drafting applications. When Lucent Technologies began cutting staff to survive I maintained a positive attitude and would advise co-workers, should they be effected by the layoffs, change direction and get out of telecommunications. Then when I was affected, I decided to take my own advice and went into business for myself. I am very proud of what I have been able to accomplish and have made considerable progress. Others efforts while employed with Lucent include working with programers to develop and Project Manage a Engineering Cad application which was used by Central Office Engineering in the North and West regions of Lucent Technologies. This tool encompassed a full life cycle from inception to retirement as it was eventually superseded by another platform that became the corporate standard. I was then tasked with phasing out the legacy application as my group combined all four engineering regions to use a common corporate software application thus streamlining all of engineering under one tool. After deployment of the standard corporate engineering application, my PM group would then Project Manage user requests and future upgrade releases collecting requirements, interfacing between users and programmers, Beta testing, training and rolling out the new releases to the engineering universe. I implemented and utilized project management tools such as GANTT charting and WBS (Work Breakdown Structures) necessary to determine our critical path and time lines in transitioning tools and processes. My responsibilities were in a Project lead, Project Management or Management capacity throughout much of my employment there. I have 5+ years in Project Management with a certification from the “Stevens Institute of Technology”. This was accomplished through corporate training with Lucent. I strive to stay current by reading the latest version of the PMBOK keeping these practices fresh in my mind. I review tutorials on MicroSoft Project 2010. I would like to work towards obtaining my PMP certification. Reason for applying: I am interested in working in a corporate environment with a company suitable of my future career direction. Strengths and background: Strong leadership skills, sense of pride in a job well done. I enjoy working with others and conveying my knowledge to others and not keeping information to myself.
