In the summer of 2008, when the deadly earthquake smacked my city, I was about to start my summer research in Laser Teaching Center Stony Brook. Lost three friends, deeply concerning about my family and friends in the risk of strong aftershock, I was tortured by my inaction. I had prepared on this project for months, but had to call it off at the last moment. I went back home and worked as a volunteer in three heavily damaged areas in Sichuan. During my volunteer work, I realized that a high fraction of people were not killed by earthquake directly, but killed by the failure of calling for rescue, medical care even simply supply of food and clean water which was caused by electricity blackout. That was the very same time I made my mind to become a electrical engineer,To me, pursuing the personal success cannot stand as an excuse for avoiding responsibility from my community. I am just an ordinary man who tries to find a way to serve my society.
