Asset Strategies Portfolio Services: Novi, Michigan July 2010 to May 2016 Sr. Consultant This position provides strategic investment advice and fiduciary oversight to institutional public and private fund investors, including plan sponsors, fund administrators and trustees. This position is responsible for full service consulting, advice and fiduciary oversight to corporate, public, Taft-Hartley, foundations and endowments, including asset/liability and asset allocation studies, manager searches, performance management and investment manager. Duties: * Manage twelve retainer clients, (five Defined Contribution/Deferred Compensation plans and Operating Cash programs, $685M in assets seven employee benefit plans, $550M in assets. * Project Manager for all project related work (retainer & non-retainer clients) and plan/program conversions * Supervise/coordinate specialized firm resources in order to complete all client deliverables, multiple projects/clients. * Ongoing client relationship management, present and deal directly with clients, trustees/ and or Board of directors. * Oversee fund reviews and performance evaluations, including ongoing compliance and due diligence * Monitor and work with clients' outside service providers, investment managers, banks, record-keepers, attorneys, and support all associated administrative and reporting requirements. Negotiate fees on behalf of clients * Maintain market place visibility through speaking appearances, professional societies, and publications * Market new business opportunities, directly and or through a "Request for Proposal" process Accomplishments: * 2012: Awarded a pension and two retiree health care plans ($120M) * 2013 - 2014 Established Defined Contribution/Deferred Compensation practice for firm. Awarded three projects evaluated existing programs, defined and implemented "best in class" practices (defined by DOL & ERISA regulations. Improved net of fee performance, increased plan participation and funding levels. Educated plan fiduciaries, established, documented process for ongoing fiduciary oversight and governance, reduced fiduciary liability. Plan fees reduced 20-30% * 2014: Awarded a project to review a large county's pension plan for the previous 15 years. Prepared an analysis, with conclusions and recommendations to improve funding level with specific guidance and comparisons. * 2015: Awarded two "Operating Cash" Plans $400M and $26M evaluated, defined governance, policy, procedures and investment guidelines. Improved diversification, reduced risk, and improved cash flows/returns * 2016: Awarded large city pension and retiree health care plans, ($240M). Defined and implemented policy benchmark and program guidelines based on client's unique risk and return profile resulting in streamlined program, superior investment managers, reduced costs and administrative burden. Transitioned and established new program. * Retainer clients: Performance net of fees ranked 50th percentile or better meeting agreed standards of risk exposure. * Assisted with the transition and ultimate purchase of the firm by an outside investment firm.
