Environmental Health and Safety/ Ergonomic

Perform assistant to operations manager functions that focus on laboratory knowledge, safety, compliance, ergonomics, equipment management, and moves; render assistance to the operations manager and special projects supervisor in directing effective oversight to the entire operations of the administrative, clinical, and research facilities within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.  Contribute significant efforts in designing and implementing a strategic safety and compliance program, along with the departmental Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)  Conduct reviews on the results of safety inspections and accident reports; initiate efforts in performing accident investigations; and document data and reports  Demonstrate instructional techniques on safety, IIPP, and emergency response training to research, academic, and administrative staff  Employ technical expertise in utilizing strategies on microscope tagging, tracking, and anchoring, as well as in chemical labeling and disposal  Ensure compliance with specific regulations when conducting research laboratory decommissioning  Initiate efforts to receive, analyze, and triage all incoming departmental requests concerning safety, compliance, and ergonomic issues  Organize department safety meetings with PI and Lab Safety Liaison to increase awareness on OSHA and CDPH new environmental health and safety; provide detailed presentations on maintaining safety within the work environment  Collaborate with principal investigators to communicate the relevant information and prepare accurate periodic reports for EHS, among others; analyze data and provide effective recommendations to the operations manager
