RssChemical Engineer, World Wide

A job doing lots of process calculations is great. A job doing lots of process calculations and custom design and putting together a proposal and engineering package and then starting up the equipment when built is great. I had a job once where the salesman would tell exactly what he wanted. I would pull a previous proposal out of the drawer, mark it up, add up the prices, and give it to the typist in two hours. It was easy, but maybe if something is easy for me, it means that is what I am meant to do. I know immediately why equipment doesn't work and sometimes spot problems before others realize there is a problem. Some really big companies (like Dravo or Catalytic International) have people who wander around and find out what is going on. (internal spies) I'd love a job like this, but with people playing games and doing sabotage, I usually figure it out years later. I like working with a good communicator where I supplu the technical back-up. I do the thinking and they can take the credit. Also, if I tell my boss what needs to be done, I won't blame myself when everything turns out different.
