psychology instructor with 7yrs teaching and 12 years clinical background MA

OBJECTIVE: I am looking for a full time teaching position in the psychology department. I am available days, evenings, weekends, and for summer courses. I have mostly taught evening courses in the past at Rutgers University and am presently teaching Abnormal psychology as a summer course. The teaching position currently open at your school is of particularly interest to me as I have family nearby and have wanted to move closer to them for a long time. I hold a Masters in Clinical Psychology and have several years of experience working in the clinical field with a variety of populations of both children and adults and with a variety of disorders. As I mentioned, I have been employed at Rutgers University as a part-time lecturer for the past five years which I have enjoyed very much. Since I began teaching undergraduates, I have found it to be the most enjoyable and rewarding position I have ever held. As a result, I plan on to continue teaching as the main focus of my career. I have taught atypical child and adolescent development as well as abnormal psychology for the past 5 years. I feel that drawing upon my clinical experience for examples gives an added dimension to my presentations and helps the students better understand the concepts and disorders presented in their textbooks. I feel that I have the qualities that make an excellent instructor. Based on student evaluations and my assessment, I am approachable and possess a solid knowledge and experience base to teach from. They feel that I have the enthusiasm for the coursework that makes it interesting as well as enjoyable. Students have sought me out for guidance and answers concerning psychological concepts and my opinion concerning their academic goals.
