After retiring from Amoco, formed new partnership to acquire fibers business from Amoco. Worked closely with equity investment firm, establishing stand-alone operation. Developed business strategy and reduced cost structure 25%. Positioned company for long-term growth and potential sale. Reorganized Amoco Fabrics and Fibers global operations, increasing sales $250M and doubling net income. Sales were stagnant and profitability was below expectations. Assessed operations for major restructuring. Determined that closing three non-performing plants, purchasing low cost plant in Mexico, and building new plant in Hungary were more cost effective moves. Grew sales from $750M to $1B and net income from $40M to $80M. Improved return on capital employed 6% for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers, starting up new grass roots plant.
