Radiologic Technologist, Portland

I recently was laid-off after working as staff radiology technologist for four years at the McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center in Springfield, Oregon. At this institution, I feel that I have gained valuable experience that equips me to present your hospital system with advantages others may not offer. For example, I have accumulated experience in several departments and a wide range of patient types and ages. Most of my exams were with ER patients, although I performed several C-Arm procedures in the OR every week. These procedures included laparoscopic cholecystectomies, retrograde ureteroscopies, and many types of orthopedic and spinal surgeries (including Kyphoplasty using two C-Arms at once). I have done some vascular C-Arm work using subtraction and road-mapping technology also. The remainder of my exams involved the frequent use of mobile x-ray units on adult, elderly, pediatric and bariatric inpatients and outpatients. I also have done some cross-training in CT. I am able to think quickly in emergency situations and in those requiring quick assessment of many factors in order to make appropriate decisions. In dealing with the diverse concerns of patients, nurses, doctors other technologists, I have become adept at operating with the proper mix of authority, diplomacy, and tact.
