Plant/Operations Manager
I am interested in exploring employment opportunities available pertaining to the manager position within your company. I have over 20 years of extensive engineering and manufacturing experience in various areas of the automotive and the aerospace industry (both in a union and non-union environment). This includes 15 years of managerial experience in the areas of Production, Manufacturing, Injection Molding, Plant start-up, Capital Projects, Supply Chain Management , Quality Control and Testing (with both prototype and current designs), and Electronics. I also have experience with using different types of Lean manufacturing and problem solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, PDCA, Kanban, Kaizan, 8D's and Poke Yoke error proof technology. My previous managerial experience in multiple areas of the automotive industry will allow me to be an additional asset to organizations that specialize in other industries. As a Production Manager in the automotive industry, I have overseen start up and implementation of three (3) production lines and programs. I have also been involved in the development of original equipment market (OEM) parts. At ZF Lemforder (Duncan, SC), I was a key participant in the start up of the BMW X5 line that produced 450 vehicles a day at a 99.9% on-time delivery rate. At ZF Lemforder (Chicago), I led a team in the start-up of a plant operation from ground level to full production. The plant went from building 100 axles per day to a maximum level of 900 per day. During my tenure as a Plant Manager at Draexlmaier in the automotive parts supply industry, the plant rose from a productivity output and an efficiency of 83% to an overall percentage of 94% in one (1) year. While serving as a Site Operations Manager (Plant Manager) at Rockwell Collins in the aerospace and aviation electronics industry, the plant rose from a productivity output and an efficiency of 85% to an overall percentage of 96% in ten (10) months. If after reading the enclosed material if you have an interest, I would be pleased to hear from you. Sincerely, Gather Lewis
