RssEducation Professional

I am a self-directed and motivated professional. My career is 5-lane freeway of experiences, motivated in part by opportunity to learn new technologies, opportunity to work for great companies, opportunity to work with tremendous people and develop new skills, and opportunities chosen so that I could be close to family. One of the near-term goals for choosing education was to be close to family and be on the same schedule as my daughter’s school year. This career complimented my world as it allowed for summer family vacations, participation in extracurricular sports, and volunteer work at my daughter’s schools. My motivation for teaching was that it allowed me balance between work and family. Education also brought me joys of teaching, extended my love of children, and challenged me at my core in ways that textbook never talked about. Teaching made me very humble. I have an appreciation and an understanding of the complexities and day-to-day struggles teachers experience in their classrooms and schools. I taught for 6 years in Richmond, a Title One school, diverse population, and public institution. Going forward, my career goal is to use what I have learned in education and in business. I want to be part of the change that is happening to traditional education as we know it. Not to be the complainer, but be part of the voice and process to improve learning systems and the way we teach and the way children learn.
