I HAVE RESPONSIBLE FOR Collects blood from patients; checks quality of blood/specimens; assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient following established standards and practices. performs clerical functions including charting of lab results and mailing reports of results to physician offices. responsible for specified computer and department maintenance as required. compliance with policies and the mission, vision and values of the facility as they relate to customer service, confidentiality, patient care, dress, attendance and behavior. Proper and timely collection of blood and urine specimens following hospital policies and procedures. Technical ability and knowledge base to learn culture set-ups, advanced specimen processing (including but not limited to initial analysis on analyzers, culture set-ups, urinalysis, various serological testing) and the ability to train and mentor phlebotomy staff. adherence to hospital policies and government regulations pertaining to safety (biological, chemical, electrical, etc).participation in hospital-wide and department specific continuing education classes as they relate to the position - including staff meetings.
