Rssprofile 2010

Profile of Experience At NetJets Security System Consultant I worked for almost one year for NetJets before being laid off. During that time I cleaned up all the improper programming on the security system input from several of the past administrators. A master standardization of all the input information was set up for better identification of alarms and recorded video. The system was due to be upgraded to the newest security package upgrade which required the server to be upgraded from windows server 2000 to windows server 2003 and SQL to be upgraded from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005. All the 6 video servers and the main database server were upgraded. The 18 workstations only needed upgrades to the Windows XP platform. The manufacturer and the VAR we used provided the new security software and loaded the software on the server. All the other upgrades and downloads to the video servers and workstations were done be me from my office. Four video servers were located outside of Columbus. The system at NetJets was performing adequately but a large amount of non reported activity was occurring. I started downloading the entire alarm database to an Access database on a weekly basis and investigating the memory load. I found over a 6 week period many unobserved and false alarms were being reported to the server and taking up a large amount of available memory. I started tracking all the different alarm types and sent repair teams to check out the trouble areas. Between the repairs, reprogramming of areas, removal of alarms not needed, and informing the users of the alarm problems, I reduced the memory storage on a weekly basis by 75% of what it was a year before. I was keeping graphs and data of this change but was unable to retain any computer information when I was laid off. As well as the main server I kept track of the video servers and kept the maximum resolution on the video while keeping the memory under 90% usage and not compromising the band width from outlying video servers. At OSU Security System Administrator I worked at OSU for 33 years. The last 12 years were working with the security computer systems. I started working with OS2-Warp which was converted to Windows Server 4.0 and SQL 7.0. That system was then phased out to the same system that NetJets used on Windows Server 2000 and SQL 2000. All the remaining time at OSU I was the main administrator of both systems. I trained three persons to take over my job before I left. One left after fully trained. Both security systems at OSU were created by me with input from every one from IT, Facilities, Security Services, Police, and Fire Prevention. Keeping the old system up and running while, at the same time, bringing on line all the new buildings and converted old systems was a consuming job but very rewarding. I was very proud of the job I did while employed at OSU. With all the combined experiences at OSU and NetJets I am able to program Video cameras and Video Servers remotely. I am able to monitor servers, micro servers and workstations, keeping them upgraded with current firmware and/or security patches. I know how to monitor SQL 2000, 2005 and correct data corruption as well as set up auto backups and archive files. I routinely use windows access to pull out data from the SQL database and check on any problems that may be present. I require very little monitoring once my path and responsibilities are set. I’m very good at trouble shooting and finding that needle in the haystack.
