Communications Specialist/Journalist

Following 15 years in television news as an anchor, reporter and producer, most recently anchoring the #1 weekend newscast in Houston, I am now seeking to use my journalism skills in a corporate setting. My first choices would be a hosptial or university. I am currently working as a freelance reporter for ABC Network News based in Houston. I’m a quick study with strong persuasive and communication abilities. I excel in solving problems and meeting deadlines. I offer unique qualifications in thoroughly researching/investigating issues, refining messages, and quickly disseminating information to the public and media. I have extensive experience in working and resolving problems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Representative of my accomplishments are the following: · Gained rapid and consistent advancement from reporting for local stations in California and Arizona to anchoring the most popular weekend news in Houston. · Demonstrated the ability to think on my feet and deal with the unexpected to provide unscripted coverage of major news events such as Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita and the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster. · Created and produced reality series on local police officers, ER physicians and firefighters. · Accompanied team of doctors to Mexico to cover volunteer medical camps providing care for underprivileged children. · Represented news organization at numerous public, community and fundraising events.
