GPI Southeast INC.

Manager

  • Managed more than thirteen major construction projects including, but not limited to, the following: Potable water treatment plant expansion for Poinciana Water Systems and Marion Oaks Water Treatment Plant. These featured upgrades to a high service pump station to increase the capacity from 1.8 to 4.5 MGD, a 1 million gallon pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank, new well, electrical components and controls, and chlorination system. Commercial subdivision from the bidding process to the final closeout including new roadways, FDOT tie-in with Interstate 75 off ramp, sidewalks, grading, drainage and DRA’s, sewer lines with lift station, potable water wells with treatment plant and piping. Water main relocation in association with the widening of State Road 20 in Interlachen. Services included the relocation, re-routing and funding coordination with FDOT. Design and installation of upgraded lift stations for FDEP special grant project in Crystal River. Reviewed all plans and specifications as well as construction engineering inspections from inception to completion. Potable water treatment plant for the Kunal II commercial development in Marion County. Design included raw water wells, disinfection system, hydro pneumatic tanks, electrical components, and controls. Other projects included the Tremont Water Treatment Plant for Interlachen, upgrades to drinking water system for Apopka, concrete reconstruction, and restoration for manholes around the city of Fort Pierce, de-chlorination system for Altamonte Springs, equipment calibration for municipalities for City of Orlando, the SW 24th Avenue extension for Alachua County. Overall responsibilities included inspection and design assistance for drainage, water and wastewater facilities, traffic studies, utility relocations, repair of treatment plant equipment, and communication with all personnel involved project from pre-bid research studies to completion of project.

  • General contracting firm constructing high-rise and multi-use buildings throughout the east coast based in Tampa, Florida.   • Managed company contract operations and acquisitions for the State of Florida, including all operational activities in the four regions. Supervised over thirty certified operators and their clients. Directly responsible for the safe and efficient operations of approximately two hundred (200) water and wastewater treatment facilities, including laboratory testing, customer service, repair, routine maintenance, new installations, cost estimating and purchasing. Responsibilities included the operation of various treatment facilities employing technologies such as Reverse Osmosis, Lime Softening, Iron Filtration, Corrosion Control, Aeration, and a variety of disinfection techniques. Extensive knowledge in relation to water and wastewater treatment plant instrumentation, rehabilitation and construction including control systems, application for proper design, calibration, and maintenance of all pertinent equipment. Supervision includes the oversight of major water and wastewater treatment plant new construction, water distribution and wastewater collection line installation, as well as wastewater lift station and force main construction. Responsibilities include all aspects of contract acquisitions involving system evaluations and procurement, start-ups and management of operational staffing.

  • As Project Manager for Bob Mitchell Associates, negotiated and resolved all EPA compliance issues resulting from deficiencies of utility systems and maintenance procedures. Managed and supervised all staffing, operators, and sub-contractors, and direct supervision of operations and maintenance of each project. Completed analysis and evaluation of contract performance by identifying the problem areas. Facilitated weekly problem-solving meetings with the on-island Director of Utilities to discuss and implement corrective action. Restructured operational personnel and staff by hiring operators with greater experience, implementing a proactive management stance. Developed and initiated repairs / renovations needed to improve and extend the wastewater treatment process. Procured materials and equipment needed to accomplish each renovation project. Developed professional working relationships with the Court Monitor, EPA inspectors, engineers and local regulatory agencies. Assembled laboratory personnel and organized the lab. Procured the equipment necessary to provide reliable process and quality control of the wastewater treatment plants. Implemented conversation-exploring structure of an on-island certification and licensing program with a primary focus on specific concerns unique to tropic operations.
